Elie Saab – A Lebanese Treasure

In Culture, Fashion on October 22, 2012 at 9:39 pm

I can’t believe it’s been more than a year since my last post. A lot has happened, I won’t bore you with details.

My post today is for Lebanon, my Lebanon, the Lebanon I know and I love.

Saddened by the latest events in Beirut, I would like to shed some positive light on one of Lebanon’s creative treasures: Elie Saab.

Elie Saab, started dressmaking since the age of 9 and now he is one of the world’s most renown designers. Angelina Jolie, Katy Perry, Jessica Biel, Katie Holmes and Princess of Sweden are some of the stars and royals that wore Elie Saab.

Most recently, Princess Stephanie of Luxembourg wore an ivory Chantilly lace, satin organza 3/4 sleeve wedding gown by Elie Saab Couture for her wedding to Prince Guillaume of Luxembourg.

And the Oscar goes to…

In Fashion on January 17, 2011 at 9:54 pm

I would like to dedicate my first post for 2011 to my country, Lebanon, more specifically to some lebanese designers.George Hobeika, Elie Saab and Zuhair Murad who showcased a bit of Lebanese talent at the Golden Globes red carpet.

George Hobeika creations are all about femininity and sensuality. Jane Fonda looked stunning in a sharp shouldered George Hobeika dress embellished with gold and silver sequins.

Elie Saab has become synonymous with luxury and modernism. In a plunning blush Elie Saab gown Scarlett Johansson rocked the red carpet.

Zuhair Murad is the epitome of Middle Eastern glamour, fashion and design. Jennifer Lopez and Christina Agulera looked so chic and glamourous in their Zuhair Murad’s gowns.

When it comes to fashion Lebanon takes home the oscar!

End 2010 with style!

In Fashion on December 30, 2010 at 11:10 am

I hope you all enjoyed your holidays and getting ready to start the New Year with style.  It is time to find a dress that not only looks good but also feels comfortable to dance in! It doesn’t need to be a dress; it could also be hot pants with a blazer or a jacket, a jumpsuit or a frou frou skirt (my favourite).

Here are some inspirational picks from the spring/summer 2011 collections that will make your shopping trip easier. And remember to have fun and add some colour! Red is always fun and sexy.

Happy New Year!

The campaign was photographed by Steven Klein at the start of November in NY city. The ads should start appearing in magazines by next week.

“I advocate glamour. Every day. Every minute.” Dita Von Teese

In Fashion on December 5, 2010 at 9:11 pm

There are some people that scream coolness; they have that “je ne sais pas“ whether they work for it or it comes naturally. Dita Von Teese is the epitome of that indescribable something, and she works really hard at it.

Dita has gone from an unknown burlesque queen to an internationally known style icon and fashion goddess sitting front row at the Paris collections.

Not only did she reinvent the very vintage art of burlesque, but she lives by the bygone philosophy of carrying yourself as a lady.

I’m into bondage. I think it’s really fun, and I love playing the part of the damsel in distress. … The feeling is amazing when someone (spanks me) right.

And you wonder why she is my fashion icon?

Geek Chic…

In Fashion on November 14, 2010 at 10:50 pm

What’s the difference between a geek and a nerd? Geeks have a social aptitude, nerds don’t. Geeks fall in love and marry non-geeks, nerds when they find love it’s always with another nerd. However geeks and nerds are closely related, in fact many nerds will start out as geeks.

What does this have to do with fashion? Geek style has a big influence on the fashion we are seeing on the street, the stores and the runaways. Below are some fashion items I found on Etsy.com inspired by geeks.

I am a geek and proud of it!
